Hello Swat!
It’s time for my first post that’s waaaay overdue. Your leaders are totally non-tech-savvy! Nvm, Jesus still loves us! (note: Jesus didn’t post in blogs either! =)
It’s been 2 months into the new year & many things seem to be the same even though there have been changes. We’ve all gone up another year in the academic ladder (some to a new class, others to a new school), grown a little fatter/skinnier/taller/(not shorter I hope!), made new friends, lost some old pals but things still seem the same because we just along with the flow, adapting to things.
And 2007 looks like it’s just a older, busier, more stressful version of 2006, 2005, 2004…
Are you happy with that? Do you want to live each year, each month, each week, each day doing the same things, experiencing the same emotions, facing the same obstacles to overcome? Aren’t you sick of it? I am.
I am sick of the way things always seem the same, that no matter how hard I try, I end up stuck in the same spot, worrying about the same things (grades, friends, family, my future etc etc etc), so many things that seem all jumbled up & I’m caught right in the middle of this big big web I can’t find a way out of.
Do you feel like that sometimes? That if life is like that, then, what’s the point of living? To breathe & survive just to be stressed & end up hopeless & not knowing why I’m here. Yes, I can have fun & laugh lots with my friends & enjoy many things but at the end of the day, the gloominess & sense of unease just makes all the smiles meaningless.
So how? What can we do?
If you’re reading this blog, you should be a Christian & you would probably know enough about “the holy things one should say in church” & you’d be saying in your brain, “Yes, everything is useless & only Jesus has the answer.” You & I KNOW that Jesus is the answer & we have already accepted Jesus into our lives but why is it that our lives seem exactly the same as those who don’t know Jesus? I’m not talking about lifestyle (that’s another post to come =) but about how we see life & how we feel while living this life. Why do we still feel miserable, over-stressed, over-worked & utterly bored/worried/anxious/disillusioned with life?
Why?
Think about why having God in our hearts doesn’t seem to help at all. In fact, some (or most) times, our relationship with God adds on to the guilt/burden/tiredness because we know we should be doing certain things but we don’t do it & we end up feeling even more miserable.
Isn’t having Jesus in our heart supposed to help?? Then why isn’t He helping? If nothing changes, if joy, love & peace are still as far away as it is to a non-Christian, why be a Christian?
Ask yourself what a Christian should be like & why you are not experiencing that type of life a Christian should live.
The next post will touch on the why. May you allow God to search your heart & show you the truth as you think about this. =)
If you have an answer or you want to talk to Cheryl/Doug/Jasmine/Xueting on more about this, just drop any of us an email! =)
